About This Painting:
There is a story behind this painting. If you do not like rodents you may not want to read it. I happen to really like rodents which might explain why I paint them so often and had a studio mouse as a muse.  So to the story. While exhibiting in New York City some fellow artists and I were walking 42nd street when out from under a tiny crack in the pavement a rodent raced by in a blur. This led us to a bag at the curb where several stealthy rats were having a formal dinner.

I hate to say it but my artist friends did not share my excitement at seeing "genuine" New York City rats and soon the catch phrase developed "What could be better than Rats?" As soon as we got back to the hotel I set to work and painted this fellow- the first one who shot out from under the pavement as I imagined him during daylight. Painting a trash can in Central Park.
